Day 13 - 16

Oh it has been a bit of a mental few days, hence the lack of update. I am working nights this week and that results in me sleeping far longer than I would on a normal night.

The good news is… there is no cake in the “dinner” they offer at night. I have also become fantastic at ignoring the pastries out at breakfast! Don’t get me wrong, I have still been having sweet snacks but the lack of cake still seems to be having an effect on my weight (all be it slower now). At this rate I won’t want to eat cake ever again!

Total loss in the 16 days so far is 5 lbs.

I really want to increase the amount of activity I am doing. At the moment I am doing about 6,000 steps on my average working day which isn’t fantastic. On a day off I tend to walk well over 10,000! Fingers and toes crossed I will be changing departments in work soon to one where I will be required to be on my feet more often rather than sat at my desk all day!

Day 11 and St Patricks day

Happy St Patricks day!! This is actually my third favourite day of the year! (Christmas first, Birthday second and then today). It also helps that along with Sunday’s Irish people have this as a get out of jail free card during lent and so I can have cake!

I am actually very impressed that I am on day 12 and so far have only had cake once! A big improvement for somebody who would happily have a piece 5 out of 7 days a week!

Yesterday was a busy one. Up early to go meet my mum and sister as they where in London to view a university my sister wants to go to. This also involved food, but I opted for a Costa Coffee Panini. It was a cheese and tomato one so not fantastic on the calories and saturated fats BUT they don’t exactly do a huge range for the veggies amongst us.

Then as a loyal cinema goer I took Little Missy to the movies to see Rango. I didn’t really like the movie – but she loved it and it meant I had some popcorn from the kiddies snack box and a few magic stars.

In the evening I was meeting friends for another cinema trip, I headed to Itsu for a frozen yoghurt first. I had to, you see I keep walking past it and the frozen yoghurt sign talks to me! It was fat free, but I did top it with hot toffee to add some flavour. It was yummy!! Cinema snack number two was chocolate brazil nuts.

Today is another day off and OH has bought me some profiteroles as my treat for after dinner. These are by far my favourite dessert ever! He was very good though and opted for the healthy living ones at least.

I start working nights tomorrow for 5 days. Not looking forward to it as the food is always rubbish. Open to any suggestions of what I should bring for a packed lunch to help me avoid the crap!

Day 10

Well 10 days down and I have had my first positive comment that made me smile! I turn up to the office today and a co-worker said “have you lost weight? Your uniform looks like its getting loose”. WOOHOO! I was getting a bit down that I was only down a few lbs in 10 days and I really had hoped for more. However, getting a nice comment like that REALLY makes all the difference.

Saying that the food I had today wasn’t amazing. Sadly that is the luck of the draw when you eat what you are fed. I also had a Malteasers chocolate bunny, but still, all things in moderation a chocolate bunny isn’t too bad AND it has less calories than cake!

I also downloaded a rather cool new app today for the ipod touch. I am going to try it out again tomorrow as most of the use on it today was the set up. If I am still loving it by the end of day 11 I shall share the title with you so you can download to give it a bash yourself!

Day 9

So I am now into day 9. I will admit it though, I did have some cake yesterday! I was all for not having it until I seen dinner in work. The veggie option was roasted peppers… only I am allergic to peppers. Which left me with the side of vegetables normally to go with your meal and err bread and cheese. I had cheese sandwiches and err a slice of after 8 cheesecake. Apparently it is alright to have Sundays off in lent? But I would still rather go without EVEN on a Sunday.

Back on the lack of cake diet today. Bit gutted – was making a falafel, humus and salsa wrap and realised how many calories are in falafel!!! OMG! I thought with it being made of chickpeas it would be great on the fat/calorie count. Clearly I was wrong!

Making a nice sausage hot pot tonight for dinner, can’t wait.

Saying all that, watching the news really does put food into perspective doesn’t it? Here I am writing about giving up cake and look at all those people in Japan. They have given up without any choice so much. My heart breaks for you Japan and I along with so many others are 100% for you in the fight you are currently going through.

Day six

Today was my seventh day at work and sixth day of no cake. Tonight I am so glad I will be going to sleep with no alarm waking me up in the morning! I have been cranky and worn out. No idea if it is because of working hard or lack of sugar but I did cave in for a fudge bar and a milky bar tonight in front of Coronation Street. Still not touched cake though!

Tomorrow is my first day at home this week, avoiding cake at home is much easier than in work. For a start OH doesn’t set 2 cakes out along with my lunch for me to pretend I can’t see them. Also, my ass isn’t glued to a seat in work answering a phone. I can actually walk about and do stuff to stop me thinking about food!

I had a chocolate and raisin Alpen bar today – they actually don’t taste as night as the light Alpen chocolate and fudge bars. You would think in theory they should be better as they are higher in calories? But I shall be sticking to buying the light bars from now on!

May the count down to St Patricks day begin… less than a week to go! Irish people have St Patricks day off lent so I shall have a nice piece of cake that day thank you :)
