Today consisted of a yoghurt, a small portion of potato wedges, a cheese and onion pasty and some chocolate ice cream. Mmmm healthy, NOT. I did walk a fair bit around Putney though so lets say 2 mile of walking today.
So why such a bad day you ask? Well now I have a job interview WOOHOO the title of the job “Office assistant” for a music management company. Right up my street you would think? Me too!
Now first palaver was they never emailed me their address so I had to google it and google said they where in Wandsworth, so I booked myself a train return to Wandsworth (cheaper booking online than on the day if you go to trainline.co.uk). So I decide to call once I get to Vauxhall to check the address is right. Computer says no, the address is NOT right. They are in Putney – by Putney Bridge Tube Station apparently. So I get the train to Putney and walk to Putney Bridge station and ring the company again to ask what street they where on and the building number. Errr okay WHY is this address they are giving me RIGHT BY Putney station!? WHY have I walked all the way down to and over Putney Bridge when I didn’t need to! Doh. I get over it and head in for my interview.
At 10 past (my interview was at 12) reception was still empty so I actually rang the office to speak to somebody to say I was there… silly really when they where down the hall and should have been expecting me. Turned out the people interviewing me where busy until 12:40 so I just had to sit and wait.
They arrive and I go in for my interview. Great, this IS my time to shine and this job WILL be mine. Until they start asking me what relevance any admin work I have done had to their job, I give my answer and the male dismisses it. He honestly said “administration is hardly something you need to learn about is it?” Well actually thus far I have found good admin is essential to do a good job but I let it slide. Now it’s the woman’s turn. First she picked holes in the fact a lot of my CV was unpaid work and I pointed out I have just graduated and so I took on as much unpaid work as I could find going through uni to boost the CV. She is NOT impressed. Apparently they need somebody with “REAL” experience. I’m sorry, what exactly is going on here?! I have been an assistant co-ordinator for a national singer songwriter competition and liaised with companies MUCH bigger than this one, so why is the work I carried out not “real” because I didn’t get paid!? I worked full time and worked my ass off – so they can go swivel.
I change the subject and start to talk about a festival I did marketing for. The woman then says “oh it was only a little college thing then?” Oh yes 48 acts over 12 nights, and a capacity of 450 a night, its only a little thing… which I believe we spent approx £25k marketing? Your right, I have no clue what I am doing and I haven’t managed to do any “REAL” work, I really should have figured this out by now.
Then we get to the real arsey moment. “How is your knowledge of HTML?”, I know the basics, I can update, text and photos, but I’m no web designer. “oh well we are really looking for somebody who can update our websites and edit and embed videos, photos etc etc”. I’m sorry hold up….. THIS is the job description:
You must be able to pick up the necessary skills quickly and use them effectively and efficiently. duties will include:
collecting & delivering post
office stock maintenance
conducting email shots
press release writing
liasing with radio & club DJ's, journalists and artists
updating artist websites and profiles
compiling lists and databases
song plugging & liasing with labels
artist diary management
adhoc duties
All candidates must be computer literate with a firm grasp of MS Office and the internet, Photoshop, CD burning and archiving. Good understanding of html, video and audio editing and graphic design is highly advantageous.
Firstly let’s forget they have spelt liaising wrong. Now am I wrong, does THAT say graphic designer who is willing to do some office work? DOES IT!? I again explained that I can edit websites, use Photoshop etc but I am not a web designer and I was expecting this role to be more to do with the artist management and promotion side of things. Computer says no…. again. “Oh well you would do other stuff too, but it would just mainly be web work”. Riiiight, they have made it perfectly clear by this point this job is NOT what I have applied for. At this point the man starts to tell me “you know if you live in Liverpool, London is much more expensive”, yes I am aware of that, I lived in High Wycombe for a year, so although a little cheaper, it wasn’t a kick in the arse off London prices. The man laughs and says London is much more expensive. I happily tell him the cost of my flat in Wycombe and the current flat prices in London…. They aren’t much different and the price for my Wycombe flat is 3 years old so I am sure it costs more now anyway.
I wouldn’t have minded such a disastrous interview if I had tried to lie in my cover letter and CV, but I didn’t. I was as honest with them about my ability as I am with myself. I am good with computer usage, I know a fair bit more about web design than most and THAT IS a “good understanding” as they put it.
What a friggen waste of my time and money going to that interview.
So THAT my friends, is why I had a pasty and wedges on the train from Euston to Liverpool and ice-cream tonight while watching Eastenders.
Still… tomorrow is another day and no doubt will be filled with some fat fighting (care of fitness coach) and healthy eating. Oh, and job applications a plenty!

Battle of the calories: Calories consumed vs Calories burned!
Monday was a good day I think. Upped my exercise to 45 minutes which, I was chuffed with. I need to keep up my consistency with exercise, but so far so good! Btw who knew bread rolls had 150 calories each!? I would have only had one with my soup had I realised BEFORE I had eaten them doh! So this is how the calories worked out for me:
Yoghurt – 200cals
Rice – 250 cals
Sausages – 120 cals
Mash – 300 cals
Lentil Soup - 165
Rolls – 300
1335
- 263 for exercise
Today wasn’t so great calorie wise. I suggested we order Indian food and the other half agreed!!! Moron, doesn’t he realise my will is weak and he is supposed to stop these slip ups lol. I did however go for I guess a healthy Indian option if there is such a thing. The calories are what google told me my take away cost me doh!
Yoghurt - 250
Sandwiches – 600
Saag aloo – 500
Nan Bread - 269
Rice – 188
1,707
- 322 for exercise
So as you can see the calories burned off exercising are up from Monday… which can mean only one thing. Yup I managed to up the exercise AGAIN to 1 hour! Yeay go me! I discovered a great trick to making exercise go quicker. My problem isn’t that I can’t exercise for an hour because I find it hard…. But because I get bored! So to solve this problem a friend suggested I play something on the laptop. I decided on BBC I player and watched a few comedy shows. I have to say it was a FAB idea because the hour did pass MUCH quicker. However, laughing when exercising is a little much on the stomach muscles, so perhaps next time I will go for a drama or a soap!
Heres to another one hour workout tomorrow, although perhaps no take away before it doh!

Cardiff, you where great but filled with calories!
Just finished 30 minutes of fitness coach, 143 calories down. Apparently that’s my workout numer 30 from the end of May. Not too bad really? But could be a lot better!
On Friday I managed to stick to changing my breakfast for apple juice and I figure I ate about 1,400 calories during the day. It was also test day on fitness coach. For those of you who hear me go on about it and don’t really know what that means, it means I have to measure my biceps, chest/ back size, waist, hips and thighs as well as do some fitness tests. Thankfully I can do the max on the lady press ups and squats so I no longer am killing myself trying to push for the max number they expect you to do. I still hate the 2 minutes of jumping jacks though!
My raised heart rate had come down this time, is that good or bad? It doesn’t tell you. All it says is that I am exercising at 60% of my hearts capacity and it is considered “medium” level exercise? Freaken medium!? They have got to be kidding me! I defy anyone to call 2 minutes of jumping jacks medium exercise, its pure torture!! Good news is my waist is down an inch and ¾’s, my thighs are down ¾’s of an inch and my chest is down 1 and ¼ of an inch! Woohoo. Still no movement on my bicep and hips though doh! Will get to work on them :)
On Saturday I had an apple juice for breakfast to start the day off with fruit. Lunch was some lentil soup with 2 slices of bread. Sadly things took a turn for the worse at this point as I was in a car for a few hours travelling to Cardiff for a U2 gig. I managed to have 2 snack twixes (you know the single ones?) and a fudge bar! Slightly counteracted by the fact we parked approximately one mile from the venue and had to walk to the venue and back after. Dinner was lovely vegetable lasagne. It was weird though, I mean seriously, it came in what I can only call a cereal or soup bowl! Who puts lasagne in a bowl!? They also tried to give me full fat coke! Argh, it isn’t even the calories that get me, I wouldn’t complain to them over that, it’s the taste! I CAN NOT STAND the taste of coke. It makes your teeth feel all funny too! Anyways, all credit to them, they changed it and to a bigger glass too :)
Lots of boogying at the U2 gig (was a REALLY great gig!) so that is more calories gone… but the gig was followed up with another twix and fudge bar ahhhhh.
Today started with a meal deal from boots. Really didn’t taste the best if I am honest, but it was food to eat on the train so I made do. Dinner is 2 sets of sausage sandwiches as I feel really hungry! Now to spend the rest of the day avoiding anymore food with perhaps the exception of snack a jacks.
Hoping I will be motivated to try the Salsa workout from Fitness TV tonight once munchkin is in bed. Fingers crossed.

Exercise good... chips bad!
So I scouted through the listings for this Fitness TV. Set 4 things to record, 2 for me and 2 for the munchkin.
While they where recording and munchkin was in bed, I started to do the street dance work out. Hmm, well not really what I was expecting, it just seemed a little unprofessional and directions where a little ambiguous. So after 11 minutes I gave up and did fitness coach. 30 minutes of fitness coach and 143 calories burned was good enough for me.
Tonight happened to be “fake tan night”, so when I wanted to do more exercise this evening I was a bit limited. Sweat and fake tan do not mix well! So I did (The second of my Fitness TV recordings) “Beginners Pilates”. It was an hour long, but actually about 20 minutes was adverts, I can imagine it would be a pain to do it live. So my tip… record their shows and don’t attempt them live! However, that being said, it was great! Good clear instruction, professional looking recording, and it would be excellent for beginners. I found it a little slow, but only because it was focussing a lot on positioning and breathing, most of which I already knew.
I now plan on recording any other Pilates and Yoga shows they have on in the hope they are all as good. Will keep you updated on what I think of them.
Food wise, basic start of cornflakes with good old semi skimmed milk.
Lunch was 2 eggs scrambled on 2 slices of toast.
Dinner was a small portion of oven chips.
Snack was frozen yoghurt.
I guess the total is about 1,500? Not fab for trying to ditch weight but hopefully the 1 hr 10 of exercise will remove a couple of hundred calories from that total :) Still a serious lack of fruit and veg despite having bought loads! I WILL exchange cereal tomorrow for two portions of fruit!!
Watching big brother made me envious, I wish I could live there on a week when they live on basic rations. How great would that be for weight loss?! And that Asian girl who went out last week what was her name? Heira? Sorry if I have that wrong, I would want her in the house with me so I could join in with her exercise routines! Oh or Lisa and Mario from last year! They where exercise mad! And fake tan mad too come to think of it – they could help me put mine on my back ha!
Not sure if I will get to post again until Sunday as I am off on a trip to Cardiff via Birmingham to go and see U2 with some friends. Hopefully food will stay in the good calorie range as one of my friends is healthy eating too as she gets married in a week. Not long until weigh day (Monday) so I really need to keep my eye on the ball to have some poundage off! Will make sure I do Fitness Coach before I go out tomorrow. Its fitness test time, so it will make me do jumping jacks until I feel sick and then measure all my body parts to see how I am doing … wish me luck!
Oh btw – Ben and Jerrys frozen yoghurt is only £1.99 in Tesco this week. Better than ice-cream and tastes just as good. Go get some if you want a healthy option in place of ice-cream!

Day 2
Well I suppose I should fill you in on how day one ended really.
Food wise because I felt ill it was pretty great. A low fat strawberry yoghurt and a bowl of pasta with ½ a tin of low salt beans and 2 Quorn sausages.
Exercise wise, I needed to vent off some anger, so I did 30 mins of wii fitness instructor. Honestly this game is great! And only about £15 to buy new. Total calories burned 126.
So that brings us to today. I had a nice lay in and got up about 11am to a bowl of cornflakes with semi skimmed milk. I know I should have skimmed but I always seem to buy semi skimmed for the munchkin and so I just make do. Perhaps next week I will buy a bottle of each type. A quick yoghurt about 1:30pm and then dinner at 5:30 which consisted of 2 Quorn sausages in a sandwich and err 2 Glamorgan sausages that I had bought in Asda. Mmmm not very healthy at 99 calories each but so nice! I figured as I had omitted lunch due to getting up late they where called for :)
I managed to put in another 30 mins of fitness coach today again which burned up a nice 158 calories. Hopefully now I am feeling much better I can get out of the house tomorrow for a walk as well as doing some fitness coach – woohoo!
So summary for today’s intake and outgoings is:
Calories burned – 158
Food ate – Cornflakes with semi skimmed milk
A Strawberry yoghurt
2 Quorn sausages in a sandwich with 2 Glamorgan sausages on the side
Lots of squash!
A TV channel I wanted to share with you all is 282 on sky aka Fitness TV. It is what it says on the tin. All kinds of exercise all day (and night) long! Worth having a flick and sky+ anything you might want to try. I haven’t used it yet, but after being told about it, I have to say I am a little excited and looking forward to giving it a bash. If you manage to use it before me, let me know how it goes :)
So with day 2 almost down I am feeling like I am doing alright! Really need to up my intake of fruit and veg though, perhaps I will make veg soup tomorrow. The question is, to make dumplings or just to have some bread with it! Feel free to let me know your thoughts!
Errr edit to say OH just came in and gave me cheese cake - too weak to say no! doh! So lets add on about 300calories to todays intake!

But why do you want to be a size 8?
So my mum calls today to ask about my move home...
"oh will you be getting those boxes from XX's garage?"
Yes I need to get them before we move home why?
"Oh its just you will have to bin most of those clothes anyway, they will never fit you again"
Ok, thanks for that! They are only a dress size smaller than what I am right now, nice to know you think I will NEVER get back into them!
"No they are all a size 8 - 10, your much bigger than that, you wont ever fit in them"
Yes majority a size 10... I AM A SIZE 12! So that would be a dress size bigger then! I'm hardly massive, I am sure I will fit into them soon enough
"well you ARE massive, when you think that if I put on a size 12, it would just fall off me"
right, whatever
Needless to say at that point I hung up on her and she won't call back for a while and when she does it won't be to say sorry, it will be to pretend it never happened as she is just telling the truth!
So... As I move home in 3 - 4 weeks (not set a firm date as yet), I have that time to drop the dress size to fit back into all my size 10 items so my mum can shove her nasty narrow minded comments up her own arse! I have spent my whole life being told I was fat (yes even when I was an 8 - 10 I was still fat in my mothers eyes, although if you point that out now she denies it) and that my sister is pretty much perfect because she is a size 6. Apparently 5ft and a size 8 - 10 just wasn't what my mother wanted in a daughter.
So, to spur me on, I will post daily what I am going to eat/ have ate and what exercise I have done.
This is mainly an effort to keep my focus and remember I am trying to achieve. Not that I will mention what I am doing to my mother. Nope, I will just go home a size 10 and see if she even notices (you can bet she won't, but the point is I will be able to show her she was wrong).
So today I have had a low fat yoghurt (100 cals) but that’s down to me feeling ill rather than trying to eat less.
Dinner is going to be pasta with veggie sausage and beans. Snacks will be an apple and an orange or 2.
Not sure if I will manage exercise care of feeling blergh but we will see :)
Help me out here folks - I need lots of motivation! Currently working on a meal plan to do me the week, very dull, but at least it means I can see what I will be eating and what I have ate as I will stick it up in the kitchen.
So there we have it, a count down to being a size 8! Although I will be happy being a size 10 before I go home, thus dropping a dress size. I refuse to crash diet!
